Himawari, a robatayaki and buffet restaurant co-owned by Tokyo native Yoichi Nakaoka and a Singaporean partner. Mr Nakaoka says his aim is to bring in premium-grade Japanese dishes to introduce more diners as resonable price. 'It doesn't matter how expensive something is, it will still turn bad if nobody buys it,' he expains, his Japanese accent undiluted by 15 years in Singapore.'I'd rather bring in small portions and have a better turnover, have more people try the food.' So on the menu are fresh seasonal specialties imported directly from Tokyo's famed Tsukiji Market twice a week...

2. The Legendary Moi Lum Chinese Restaurant

Moilum Restaurant was founded in the 1920s by founder Mr Khong Yu Lum. The restaurant has been selling their legendary Crispy Fried Chicken and Special Crab Tofu for the past 80 years. The restaurant started out by renting a shop space in a little coffee shop eatery selling and producing wanton noodles along Tanjong Pagar Road. When the coffee shop owners, Cheong Hou Coffee Shop, offered to sell the premises to Mr Khong Yu Lum, Mr Khong seized the opportunity as a young entrepreneur and started the restaurant with his peers from Guangdong who all had exceptional culinary skills...
